Participating in a blind date facilitated by a match-making service was certainly not something that she would have considered doing in her life. Esther wasn’t a person who actively sought a companion to settle down with and she was definitely happy going through life from one one night stand to the next. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been on an actual date… She began to wonder whether she had been on a real date before? Ever...?
Recently, Esther and Alfie had been drinking at the Hog’s Head and Alfie saw the flyer for the Blishwick Blind Dating Roulette. They must have had a few at that point, because next thing you know they had dared each other to sign up for it. Nothing motivated Esther more than somebody telling her that she couldn’t or wouldn’t do something, and she certainly wasn’t one to turn down one of Alfie’s dares historically. So now here they were.
The Veela had gone for a classic look, dressed in a black dress and black shoes with a pop of colour in her deep red lipstick. Her blonde hair was loosely pinned back at the temple, the rest of it cascading over her shoulders. As she arrived via portkey at iconic Phoenix Theatre in Galwey, she clutched the envelope that held details of their activities on it, and waited for some sign of whoever it was she was supposed to be meeting up with.

Finn decided to sign up for Blishwick’s again; he’d had a nice date with Dominique Weasley the last time, but there was a decent age difference and it had been decided that they were better off as friends. She was fun to be around though, and Finn enjoyed her company. Still, it had been awhile since he’d been on a date, so he was looking forward to it. He had gotten dressed in a nice shirt and slacks, but had ditched the tie; it wasn’t really his style anyway. Making sure he smelled nice, he took the Portkey over to the Phoenix Theater where he was supposed to meet his date. As he walked up to the Theatre entrance, he noticed a very pretty blonde in a black dress clutching an envelope. Excellent, this was turning out to be a nice evening already. Smiling, he made his way over to the woman. “You here for Blishwick?” he asked with a smile. “I’m Kai Jones, I believe that I am your date tonight,” he added, inclining his head towards her slightly. @esther

It wasn’t that she had waited long at all, but the few short minutes she was alone felt like they had been stretched out in super slow motion. Every second that passed made Esther wonder what exactly had gotten into her to actually accept a dare like this. She didn’t have any genuine interest in serious dating and she was habitually terrible at relationships. She always managed to find the flaws. Sometimes in others but mostly her own. She’d foretell the ending then go and create the cause. Save herself and end up alone again.
Inhaling deeply, she was a microsecond away from throwing in the towel and fleeing the scene before anyone would notice, but then a voice addressed her and she looked up to see a rather handsome man approaching her. His smile was alluring and she could suddenly breathe again for being relieved.
“You here for Blishwick?”
“Sure am...” she replied, her gaze flicking over him briefly, sizing him up as she postured and stepped toward him. The guy was attractive, that much was a given. Vaguely familiar too, although she couldn’t put a finger on that just yet. “I’m Esther Garnet,” she told him, smiling coyly. She supposed she could do a lot worse for a blind date!

Finn smiled back at Esther. Well, Blishwick had done the job well hadn’t he? He’d wondered how Blishwick matched them all up; was it random or did he study their surveys they had filled out and made sure each match actually made sense. Still, now was not the time to think about that; he had a beautiful girl standing in front of him, and a show to catch. “Well, I think the show is starting soon, so we should find out seats?” he suggested, holding out his arm to her. They entered the theatre and were given programs for tonight’s show, one Finn had never heard of before. “So, I haven’t been to the theatre in awhile, busy schedule of course, but something tells me that champagne makes everything more enjoyable,” he commented, going up to the bar and getting them each a glass. Once they were situated in their seats, he turned towards his date. “So, Miss Esther, tell me something about yourself before the show starts,” he said, smiling before taking a sip of champagne. @esther

By this point, Esther was well and truly passed the notion that this had been a bad idea. They could be in for a pretty fun night if the chemistry between them, at least from her perspective, was anything to go by. Esther had almost forgotten that the point of their blind date was to catch a show as they stood there smiling at each other, seemingly happy with each other’s Blishwick match. It wasn’t until he mentioned the show’s imminent start that she nodded, threading her arm through his as he offered it to her and walked with him inside to the bar.
“So, I haven’t been to the theatre in awhile, busy schedule of course, but something tells me that champagne makes everything more enjoyable,”
“Can’t argue with that,” she replied, taking the glass of champagne and nodding to him in appreciation. She couldn’t recall the last time she’d seen a show either, and not for having a busy schedule but more because the opportunity hadn’t arisen. As they sat down, she angled her body slightly to face his and crossed one leg over the other. He asked her to tell him something about herself and her eyes darted around the theatre as she considered all of the ways she could respond that would ensure that this date ended in the same way that all of her other one night stands did. Instead she decided to play the safe card, this being a supposed real ‘date’ and all. She figured she might as well attempt at behaving herself.
“I’m a healer,” she told him, taking a sip of the champagne, “I work in the hospital wing at Hogwarts. How about you? What keeps your schedule so busy, then?”

Finn smiled at her response. “A Healer? That’s wonderful, and working at Hogwarts to boot must be quite a trip down memory lane,” he said. He had great memories of getting into all sorts of trouble at Hogwarts with Rai, on the Quidditch pitch and off, and he had considered the idea of returning to Hogwarts, after his playing days were over of course, to be the Quidditch referee and flying instructor. “Do I even want to know what the kids get themselves into these days?” he added with a chuckle. “I am a Beater for the Appleby Arrows Quidditch team,” he told her rather proudly, his smile widening. “I just was named Captain this offseason, so it’s been quite a ride. We had a bit of a bust season last year, so hopefully with some new talent we’ll be better off this season,” he added, not mentioning the new direction with leadership in both coach and captain. He didn’t want to come across as arrogant or full of himself after all. “Did you ever play?” he asked. Many house players never actually ended up going pro, so there was an off chance she may have dodged a few Bludgers in her time. @esther this is so late IM SO SORRY
